Cosmic Dancer

Orgasmic. That is the first word that comes to mind when Marc Bolan and T-Rex are playing. No matter the mood or the circumstances, Marc Bolan's vocals will seduce the ears and hearts of anyone easily inspired or open to spiritual freedom.
The music generates a unique high that no one can deny, and even the most uptight can't help but be swayed by the effortless groove that emanates from this band.
Smooth genius oozes out of the very lips of Marc Bolan when he opens them to sing or cause a girl's heart to go into palpitations when he shrieks unexpectedly during a song while shaking his wild mane at random.

"Cosmic Dancer," one of T Rex's classics, is a favorite of mine. To me, the song is an example of someone who has known what they love in life and have done it from time they were born, to the time that they died.
"I danced myself out of the womb
"Is it strange to dance so soon
"I danced myself into the tomb"
The symbolism of this song radiates inspiration to me because I love the idea of doing something you love without shame till the day that you die.
"Get It On" and "Mambo Sun" are two other classics of his but are just a few of the many wonderful songs that he contributed to.

To this day, Marc Bolan's effortless talent is still appreciated and admired. Even though he left us all too early, his legendary performances as a free-minded musician still inspire today.
And if ever you need a pick me up or legal high, turn on some of T Rex's tunes and allow them to take your mind out of this world and turn you into a cosmic dancer. Believe me, you won't regret it.

Experiencing Joe

About two years ago, someone showed me who Joe Dallesandro was. From that point on, I was a little obsessed. Joe Dallesandro is an experience that I believe everyone should have at some point in their life. Over the past two years, I have tried to watch as many of his movies as I can. So far, I have seen his movies Flesh, Trash, Heat, Blood For Dracula, Flesh For Frankenstein, and La Marge. For the next two weeks, I will be taking you through these films and more.

The first film of his that we will cover is "Blood For Dracula." This one is actually the first movie of his that I saw. I hope that everyone enjoys discovering and exploring Joe Dallesandro with me. Prepare to get your mind blown!

He is Golden!

He is not what you think he is, he is golden; He is golden! Mika, the daring and flamboyant music artist, has been one to break out of the molds and to push the boundaries. How? When his first album came out,"Life in Cartoon Motion," some who listened realized that there was more to pop than just repetition and slapstick lyrics. Bringing color and life to the pop culture, he also brought out a message and what he was feeling. One of his songs that really sticks out with a message is "Big Girl, You Are Beautiful." Coming from a background where he was made fun of at school and being put down, he found that through music he could express himself and bring out what he couldn't when he was younger.
As his second success, Mika's new album has recently come out. Not missing a beat or losing his touch after his first album, he continued sharing the fun and playful aspects of music. His second installment,"We Are Golden!", is catchy and absolutely addicting. Seeing as how his music is getting better as he goes, there is no doubt in my mind that the next album he puts out   will be any less genius than the last two!

Through his uniqueness and boldness, he inspires me to be an individual and to not be afraid of what people think of me. To be who I am and to express myself no matter what, and if need be, break out of a mold. I notice that many people follow trends and judge others through them. Following all the "It" things, and restricting themselves of being their own person, they become those trends. Fewer and fewer people are being their own person. It seems as if they are the property of  the media and cannot think for themselves. Where is the originality? One cannot help being sympathetic for those who have immersed themselves into the media, knowing nothing other than what the media is putting  out. Everyone has an idea of what they believe people should be like, not keeping in mind that every person is an individual and should think for themselves. So, what can we do about it? For starters, we can break those molds, be individuals, and challenge the media and everyone who thinks like the media, that it is the "it thing" to be oneself no matter what. Individualism and originality is the latest trend. Try wearing it!
Finally, I thank Mika for being an inspiration. Showing me that no matter what others think of us, We Are Golden!!!
