He is Golden!

He is not what you think he is, he is golden; He is golden! Mika, the daring and flamboyant music artist, has been one to break out of the molds and to push the boundaries. How? When his first album came out,"Life in Cartoon Motion," some who listened realized that there was more to pop than just repetition and slapstick lyrics. Bringing color and life to the pop culture, he also brought out a message and what he was feeling. One of his songs that really sticks out with a message is "Big Girl, You Are Beautiful." Coming from a background where he was made fun of at school and being put down, he found that through music he could express himself and bring out what he couldn't when he was younger.
As his second success, Mika's new album has recently come out. Not missing a beat or losing his touch after his first album, he continued sharing the fun and playful aspects of music. His second installment,"We Are Golden!", is catchy and absolutely addicting. Seeing as how his music is getting better as he goes, there is no doubt in my mind that the next album he puts out   will be any less genius than the last two!

Through his uniqueness and boldness, he inspires me to be an individual and to not be afraid of what people think of me. To be who I am and to express myself no matter what, and if need be, break out of a mold. I notice that many people follow trends and judge others through them. Following all the "It" things, and restricting themselves of being their own person, they become those trends. Fewer and fewer people are being their own person. It seems as if they are the property of  the media and cannot think for themselves. Where is the originality? One cannot help being sympathetic for those who have immersed themselves into the media, knowing nothing other than what the media is putting  out. Everyone has an idea of what they believe people should be like, not keeping in mind that every person is an individual and should think for themselves. So, what can we do about it? For starters, we can break those molds, be individuals, and challenge the media and everyone who thinks like the media, that it is the "it thing" to be oneself no matter what. Individualism and originality is the latest trend. Try wearing it!
Finally, I thank Mika for being an inspiration. Showing me that no matter what others think of us, We Are Golden!!!
